To ensure the safety of all users within Workspace Raccoon through standardized safety practices and training requirements. This policy outlines safety protocols for equipment use, emergency procedures, and specifies the training needed to operate equipment safely.
-
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- All users must wear appropriate PPE for their tasks, such as safety glasses, gloves, lab coats, ear protection, and closed-toe shoes.
- Follow PPE requirements as detailed in the relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for each task or equipment use.
-
Equipment Operation
- Only operate equipment if you have received the required training and authorization. Unauthorized use of equipment is strictly prohibited.
- Conduct a safety check before using any equipment. Report any malfunctions, damages, or potential hazards to the Workspace Manager or safety officer immediately.
- Adhere to manufacturer guidelines and Workspace protocols for equipment use, cleaning, and maintenance.
-
Emergency Procedures
- Familiarize yourself with emergency response protocols, including evacuation routes and the locations of fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and first aid kits.
- In case of an emergency (fire, chemical spill, medical emergency), follow the Workspace's protocols.
- Report all incidents, accidents, or near-misses to the designated safety officer and complete an incident report form promptly.
-
Basic Equipment
- Requires no formal training beyond a basic orientation or review of the relevant SOP.
-
Informal Training Equipment
- Requires verbal instruction provided by a knowledgeable staff member or experienced user. The content and scope of these instructions are documented in the Operational Protocols (OPs).
-
Formal Training Equipment
- For equipment that presents higher risks or requires specialized skills (e.g., 3D printers, CNC machines, laser cutters), formal training is mandatory.
- Users must register for scheduled training sessions, complete structured instruction on safety protocols and equipment operation, and pass a competency assessment. All formal training processes, including trainer qualifications and user eligibility, are detailed in the OPs.
¶ User Agreement and Acknowledgment
- All users accessing equipment or resources that require formal training must complete the General User Agreement and Acknowledgment Form. This form serves as a commitment to adhere to current rules, policies, and procedures and acts as a physical backup of training records.
- The form must be signed and submitted to the Workspace Manager or designated supervisor, with details recorded in the Workspace database.
¶ Trainers and Training Oversight
- Trainers are responsible for providing consistent and effective training aligned with the relevant SOPs and OPs.
- Trainers must be approved by the Workspace Manager, conduct training sessions using approved materials, assess trainee competency, and maintain records of training sessions.
- Trainers should participate in regular evaluations and ongoing professional development to remain current with all protocols and equipment.
¶ Review and Updates
This Safety and Training Policy will be reviewed annually and updated to reflect changes in safety standards, equipment, or training requirements.
